Toute Ensemble is a group of nine musicians, playing early instruments including recorders, windcaps (crumhorns, cornamusen, cortols), shawms, small pipes, sackbut, harp and lutes. Our music includes a variety of percussion instruments and we also sing. We all have Elizabethan-type costumes which we enjoy wearing for performances when appropriate.
The band was formed 20 years ago and now plays throughout Plymouth and South East Cornwall at fairs, fÉtes, dances, banquets and concerts, especially within Tudor premises, including at Mary Newman's Cottage and the Guildhall in Saltash, for the National Trust at Cotehele, at Stuart House in Liskeard and for various local church celebrations and concerts.
Our repertoire varies from very early music (12th century), Renaissance (including the famous Playford dances) early Baroque and folk music through to 21st century pieces, all performed with skill, enthusiasm and a uniquely lively style.
